Carbon Neutrality Promotion Office
The Carbon Neutrality Promotion Office was established in April 2023 to strategically promote a variety of activities aimed at reducing and increasing carbon dioxide emissions and absorption at Ehime University. Ehime University, in order to contribute to the creation of a sustainable society and a resilient local community, will strategically promote initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on campus and in the region to virtually zero, with the Carbon Neutrality Promotion Office serving as a hub and working in collaboration with local stakeholders.
The Carbon Neutrality Promotion Office is engaged in activities (planning, implementation, and support) as a “regional center of knowledge” to achieve Japan’s goal of a 46% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 (compared to 2013) and carbon neutrality by 2050.
Message from the Director
Global warming and other environmental issues are now common challenges for all humankind that transcend national borders. Building a sustainable future is one of the most important missions of our generation. The acceleration of climate change requires us to make greater efforts with respect to the global environment and the efficient use of energy resources. Ehime University has made public a concrete action plan in the Carbon Neutral Declaration 2024, and has resolved to develop a specific plan for reducing CO2 emissions and to implement it in a step-by-step and steady manner. This declaration is not merely a set of goals, but the first step toward achieving concrete results through innovation and behavioral change.
We will strengthen and promote research to achieve carbon neutrality, develop environmental education and human resource development programs, contribute to the region’s carbon neutrality through green transformation, and make Ehime University carbon neutral. The road ahead will not be easy, but we will do our utmost to achieve carbon neutrality for the entire region so that we can hand down a sustainable future to the next generation. Through this declaration, we will steadily implement specific actions and contribute to building a sustainable society that we can be proud of for future generations.
